HELP School Masese

help-uganda.com – Providing financial support for building and expanding a free primary school in the village of Masese in Jinja, southern Uganda. The school was started by HELP Uganda (a registered NGO in Uganda and a project of the US nonprofit HELP International) in 2009 with one teacher and 45 children to provide free education to children living in slum conditions.

The Kyne family has supported the school since 2010 through direct funding to assist with construction and expansion, ongoing sponsorship of individual children, and support for a food programme. The latest expansion will increase the student population from 750 to over 1,000, giving the majority of Masese children access to a safe, sustainable school and a hot meal each school day.

Lumule Foundation

lumulefoundation.org – Providing financial support and capacity building to the Lumule Foundation, a charity registered in the UK that supports vulnerable children and families who continue to suffer in the aftermath of a civil war in Uganda. The foundation was founded by Dennis Okwera, who fled Lumule in Northern Uganda as a child to escape a civil war where local children were being abducted and forced to become child soldiers. The Kyne Foundation will continue supporting Dennis in his efforts to build a school a medical centre and, establish community health supports, and bring about healing through education and opportunity.
